RQ to modernise Racing Advisory Panels

Racing Queensland has taken steps to “modernise” its Racing Advisory Panel structure.

RQ is looking for two independent members to join restructured Racing Advisory Panels.

The panels were set up in all three codes in 2016 to give a broader spectrum of participants a chance to help administer the sports.

At present the panels are made up of various industry representatives such as trainers, owners, breeders and club officials.

Earlier this year, a government think tank decided to modernise the panels by two independent members being appointed to each.

RQ chief executive Brendan Parnell said as part of the restructure RQ had called for interested parties to apply with the appointments to be made at the end of the month.

“The Panels primary role is to assist RQ in the development and delivery of our strategic objectives, including formulating proposals and providing industry sentiment on ideas and concepts,” he said.

The independent appointments will have a background in racing but not have direct links to any club or body.
