Rosehill Betting tips for June 28

What Rosehill Races
Where Rosehill Gardens Racecourse – James Ruse Dr, Rosehill NSW 2142
When Saturday, June 28, 2025
First Race 11am AEST

Rosehill Gardens is the destination for feature racing in Sydney on Saturday, with the Listed WJ McKell Cup (2000m) headlining a competitive 10-race meeting. With clear skies forecast for the rest of the week, the Soft 5 track rating should be upgraded to a Good 4, meaning no excuses for favoured runners. The rail will be out 6m for the entire circuit, with the action at Rosehill commencing at 11am AEST.

WJ McKell Cup Tip: Belvedere Boys

Belvedere Boys found the 1500m in the Listed Spear Chief Quality first-up at Eagle Farm too sharp, but with the step up to 2000m and a return to Rosehill, he gets the nod in the 2025 WJ McKell Cup. He is a two-time winner at the track and is a second-up winner, albeit earlier on his career as a sprinter. With two wins and a second from his three starts at 2000m and beyond, the step up in trip will be no issue, and the awkward barrier (10) is offset by his want to get back and run on.

Best Bet at Rosehill: Puntin

Puntin is yet to run a poor race in his five-start career and showcased that when beaten by the barest of margins fresh from a spell at Canterbury on June 9. The son of Super Seth was seemingly brought undone by the 1250m trip, so the step up to 1400m should suit. The three-year-old gelding won second-up in his initial campaign at this trip and looks set to get the race run to suit him.

Next Best at Rosehill: Hezashocka

The Mick Price & Michael Kent-trained Hezashocka will have his first start out of black-type company since the spring of 2022, and if he can handle the 60.5kg, this BM90 looks well within his grasp. The son of Shocking finished five lengths behind subsequent Brisbane Cup winner Campaldino when giving up too much of a start in the Group 3 Queen Elizabeth II Cup (2400m) at Eagle Farm. Drawn in barrier two, Braith Nock will have the option to settle a bit closer to the speed, and should the breaks come his way, Hezashocka can assert his class late on.
