Race 6 – ATC Members Christmas 3YO (2000m)

Multifacets was a strong last start winner at Rosehill over a field which is slightly better than this. The Chris Waller-trained gelding goes well on this track and despite rising in weight, it gets Tommy Berry in the saddle and the $7.50 on offer will get quaddie punters off to a great start.

Stablemate Trafalgar was working home well last start at Rosehill and it will be better for the outing. The four-year-old is a winner of three from eight starts and it has become accustomed to carrying big weights. It has been supported at $6 in a wide-open field so it must be considered.

Vain Elaine could add some cheek at odds of $21. The well-bred mare by High Chaparral is bred for this distance and its form has improved over the 2000 metres. It hasn’t done much wrong in nine career starts and although this is a steep rise in class, the 54kg helps.

Leg 1 tips: 2, 4, 15

Race 7 – Benchmark R91 Handicap (1400m)

Snoopy is also entered at Flemington on Saturday, but we must include it here as well. The Hawkes-trained sprinter is ideally drawn in barrier one which suits its running style and after winning from in front last start, it will likely head to the lead again. Berry is a master jockey over the sprint distances so include Snoopy at $3.40 after it opened at $3.50.

Reincarnate is looking to bounce back after an average showing last Saturday. The John O’Shea-trained gelding had been in good form winning its last two starts, but its seventh at Rosehill last start was weak. The quick back-up should do it some good and the $5.50 is a fair price. Gets in well on the weights at 54kg with the claim of Andrew Adkins.

Painte is one of those frustrating horses that continue to run well without winning. The Joe Pride-trained runner would be better suited with the sting out of the track, but it gets a vital 3kg claimer in the saddle and it should have the majority of the field covered for class. Include at $8 for value.

Leg 2 tips: 5, 8, 11

Race 8 – Pluck@Vinery R78 Handicap (1500m)

Unbiased has been a well-backed runner for John O’Shea which has amassed a nice record to date. The four-year-old has won two from nine starts with five placings and after receiving a tough run in transit last start, it was able to flash home behind race-rival Hogmanay. It opened at $6.50 and has dropped to $6 – we’re expecting more market movement.

Kandinsky has had four starts for Team Hawkes and it looks to have a fair amount of ability. The Hinchinbrook gelding was a winner on debut at Warwick Farm and although it hasn’t won since, it has shown punters enough to warrant its current odds of $6.50. It has drawn to get a sweet trip from barrier five and Berry rides.

Most Exalted sprouted wings to finish third last start at Rosehill and a similar effort takes it close again. The James Cummings-trained gelding is a winner of only one race from 13 starts, but it doesn’t lack ability and it just needs the pace to be on up front. It should get that so watch for it late at $6 in the betting.

Leg 3 tips: 7, 13, 14

Race 9 – Benchmark 78 Handicap (1200m)

Sugar Bay Leonard has a decent future and it showed its toughness when winning at Canterbury last start. The Joe Pride-trained gelding had to stretch late to win last start and its only defeats have come against quality opposition. This is harder here, but it’s a gelding that could contest these types of races. It opened at $6.50 and is currently paying $6.

Static Lift opened as the $4.60 favourite, but it has drifted out to $5. The James Cummings-trained gelding has a good fresh up record and its back-to-back wins in winter were full of class. The drift in the betting is concerning, but it will only need luck from the wide barrier to feature in this.

Leg 4 tips: 6, 15
