Race 1 – The Schweppervescence (1400m)
Spin should be right in the frame here. The horse is fresh out of the Pago Pago Stakes, where it finished third in a highly competitive race. This appears to be a winnable race.
Race 1 tip: Spin to win ($4.60 at Sportsbet)
Race 2 – Neville Sellwood Stakes (2000m)
One Foot In Heaven has raced in great events overseas, and you can not knock the form in those races. The horse is first-up in Australia here, so the fitness will be a query.
Race 3 – Star Kingdom (1200m)
Burning Passion has a great second-up record of two wins and two second placings from four runs. The gelding finished within a length of Crack Me Up on March 3, which reads well going into this.
Race 3 tip: Burning Passion to win ($7.50 at Sportsbet)
Race 4 – Emancipation Stakes (1500m)
The hat-trick seeking Daysee Doom is well placed to win. The horse has won back-to-back events since resuming on February 24 and it has a terrific third-up record of two wins and two placings from four runs. This race is Daysee Doom’s to lose.
Race 4 tip: Doves Cry to win ($8.50 at Sportsbet)
Race 5 – Tulloch Stakes (2000m)
Mongolian Marshal is going for a third-straight win and it has as good a chance as any. The NZ runner is racing across the Tasman for the first time, but there’s no reason to doubt it cannot handle the journey.
Race 5 tip: Mongolian Marshal to win ($3.40 at William Hill)
Race 6 – Tancred Stakes (2400m)
Star runner Gailo Chop should win this. The horse has won three of its last four runs including the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m). The horse has never won over this trip, but it’s a class runner that can handle the set-up.
Race 6 tip: Gailo Chop to win ($2.30 at Neds)
Race 7 – Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m)
This appears well set out for in-form Unforgotten. The horse has won four of its last five races and is third-up on Saturday, where it has won at in the past. There’s not much more the horse could have done in the Phar Lap Stakes last-start.
Race 7 tip: Unforgotten to win ($5 at Neds)
Race 8 – Doncaster Prelude (1500m)
Cellarman has been great across its career to date and comes into this race as a huge chance. While the horse failed to complete a fourth-straight success last start in the Ajax Stakes, it was only six parts of a length away from winning. The Waller runner is a huge chance to get back in the winner’s circle.
Race 8 tip: Cellarman to win ($4.40 at Neds)
Race 9 – Benchmark 93 (1400m)
Osborne Bulls has never missed a placing in its career, but failed to win as a short-priced favourite at Kembla last time out, but it gets the chance to bounce straight back.
Race 9 tip: Osborne Bulls to win ($3 at Neds)
