Rosebud Stakes betting at Rosehill with free tips and form

Rosehill racing tips

THE early season three-year-olds are back in action in Saturday’s $150,000 Rosebud Stakes at Rosehill and we have form, odds and free tips.

The Rosebud (1100m) is one of the lead-up races for the talented colts, fillies and geldings which will have black type races in mind during the spring carnival.

Siege of Quebec is looking to remain unbeaten, but there will be plenty of interest in the returning runners. Menari, Trekking and Perast all looked above average as juveniles and bookmakers will likely take some big bets.

Racing across the board at Rosehill on Saturday is top class and punters will get some of the best odds with Topbetta.com.au.

Race 1 – Tab Highway Handicap (1100m)

Lifesaver is an unbeaten four-year-old which looks to have ability. The well-named gelding by Helmut scored by over a length on debut at Murwillumbah before scoring narrowly at Doomben last start. It took the winter off and it appears to have enough talent to win at the Highway Handicap level.

And There Is More resumes having finished second at the Sapphire Coast last start. The Terry Robinson-trained mare ran well in the Highway Handicap at Randwick prior to that when finishing 3.6 lengths behind Super Star Bob. It has drawn awkwardly for this, but it just needs some luck.

Race 1 tip: Lifesaver to win ($5) at CrownBet.com.au

Race 2 – Fairfield RSL Club Handicap (2000m)

Vaucluse Bay has grown another leg this campaign and its last two wins have been top class. The Chris Waller-trained gelding won narrowly over subsequent winner Arbeitsam at Rosehill before pulling out all the stops last start. The four-year-old won by four lengths in a dominant display and although it’s up in weight, it should go well in this grade.

Zourkhan showed very little at Rosehill last start, but punters should allow it another chance. The six-year-old was well-favoured in the betting at $3.90, but it failed to fire in the straight. Its form prior was worthy of attention and punters might get a better price this time around.

Race 2 tip: Vaucluse Bay to win ($2.30) at Topbetta.com.au

Race 3 – Merrylands RSL Club Premier’s Cup (1800m)

Arbeitsam is a classic Waterhouse/Bott-trained front runner which returned to its best last start on this track. The son of Snitzel set the pace last start and kicked too strongly for its rivals. It steps back up to 1800m after failing at that distance two starts back, but carrying the 53kg makes that task much easier.

Classic Uniform was only narrowly run down by Shiraz in the Winter Challenge and it could give Arbeitsam company out in front. The Gary Moore-trained gelding hasn’t won for awhile which is concerning, but it’s a tough customer which gets all the favours off the inside draw.

Race 3 tip: Arbeitsam to win ($3) at Bet365.com

Race 4 – Dooley’s Handicap (1100m)

Sir Plush has been expensive for punters at its last two runs, but they have come behind classy types. The Bjorn Baker-trained gelding ran second behind Calanda and Washington Heights last start. That form holds up well at this level and it has won four of its five starts at this distance. Consider for the win.

Badajoz is usually around the mark and it has been given a light freshen up since running fifth in the Ramornie Handicap. The James Cummings-trained gelding has placed in both starts at Rosehill and it has the ability to handle all track conditions. It has finished out of the money in only one of its 10 starts at the sprinting distance.

Race 4 tip: Sir Plush to win ($2.75) at Ladbrokes.com.au

Race 5 – St Johns Bowling Club Handicap (1350m)

Peacock resumes having run in the South Pacific Classic last time to the races. The Cummings-trained gelding won the Gothic Stakes at Caulfield before running against the likes of Malaguerra and Oak Door. This is much easier here and it could find form quicker than usual.

The Pharoah is nearing another win after going close behind Arbeitsam last start. The Gerald Ryan-trained four-year-old is twice-placed at this distance and it should be in fit order after its three runs this preparation. The inside draw and the light weight make it a winning hope.

Race 5 tip: The Pharoah to place at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 6 – Smithfield RSL Club Rosebud Stakes (1100m)

Trekking comes out of the Golden Slipper where it didn’t handle the wet conditions. The three-year-old by Street Cry finished 12th of 16 runners, but we were impressed with its debut win on this track and its run for second in the Black Opal Stakes. It tracks into this race nicely and we expect a big effort.

Perast looked good winning on debut by 3.5 lengths over Let’s Get Nauti Girl and it didn’t get everything go its way in the Inglis 2YO at Caulfield. The son of Snitzel didn’t handle the heavy track in the Todman Stakes, but this should better and getting into this race with only 53kg makes it tough to beat.

Race 6 tip: Perast to win ($23) at Topbetta.com.au

Race 7 – Canterbury Hurlstone Park Spring Preview (1400m)

Sarrasin is a German import which has had one run for Chris Waller. The son of Monsun finished strongly behind Sense of Occasion in the Villiers at Randwick and that came after having almost two years off from racing. It’s had plenty of issues – having had only six starts as a six-year-old, but it could be Melbourne Cup bound and winning at this distance isn’t beyond its capabilities.

Washington Heights returned to Australia with a stunning win last start and it could continue on with it. The former Hong Kong runner continued its good fresh record at Rosehill last month and although it hasn’t won second up, it appears to be fit for this and it has drawn to get a nice drag into the race. Punters should stick with it.

Race 7 tip: Washington Heights to win at Bet365.com

Race 8 – Club NSW Handicap (1400m)

Slumber Party wasn’t disgraced when running second behind Suspenders last start. The four-year-old led into the straight and fought gamely to the finish, which bodes well for this run. It might have only one win next to its name, but the daughter of Snitzel has always possessed talent and it could turn the tables on Suspenders with the pull in the weights.

Faith’s Encore has been backed and beaten twice this preparation, but that was an encouraging run last start after missing the start. The Snowden-trained four-year-old likes to get back during the run and flash home, but it needs a strong pace up front. It can’t be left out and punters should get a nice price.

Race 8 tip: Faith’s Encore to win ($6.50) at CrownBet.com.au

Race 9 – Campbell Town Catholic Club Handicap (1500m)

Special Missile keeps winning and it looms as a threat again. The John Thompson-trained four-year-old was scored three consecutive wins at midweek level, but it looks to have ability and a real zest for winning. This is an even betting field, but consider it on an each way basis.

Imanui is rarely far away from the prize and it produced a good finish behind Special Missile last start. The son of Al Maher has placed at its last five starts and is long overdue for a win. It could come here and it will be wanting a rain-affected track.

Race 9 tip: Imanui to win at Sportsbet.com.au
