Rockhampton race tips & form, Thursday, January 25
RACING at Rockhampton is back this Thursday and there’s plenty of great events on the seven race card.
This is the sole sunshine state meeting prior to Australia Day so let’s take a look at the tips prior to the national holiday.
Race 1 – Class 1 Handicap (1050m)

Ruby Georgie is the only horse in the field that has previously won and it looks as the winner here. The horse resumes after a short break and will look to maintain the unbeaten run against a field of five.

Race 2 – Benchmark 65 (1400m)

Text Book is a last-start winner that looks well placed to win again. The horse won brilliantly as a short-priced favourite at Mackay in a benchmark 60 event, and only narrowly missed out prior to that at BM65 level. Text Book looks to be the strongest runner in the field.

Race 3 – Maiden Handicap (1400m)

Dual Personality has placed in back-to-back events and looks well placed to win its first-ever race. It has taken awhile for the penny to drop, but the horse has placed in four of its last five races. The great gate of three will be hugely beneficial with the Dual Personality’s biggest rival Van Winkel getting a less than ideal barrier.

Race 4 – Open Handicap (1100m)

Outside of Miss Anna’s last-start failure at Rocky seems like an aberration given it won four races in a row prior to that. The horse gets back to a distance where it has won four of five starts, which is a huge tick coming into this one.

Race 5 – Class 3 Plate (1200m)

Mystic Forces is third-up on Thursday, where it has previously placed in the past. The horse placed third upon resumption before finishing second two weeks ago at Rockhampton. Mystic Forces will be rock-hard fit and ready to win.
Race 5 tip: Mystic Forces to win at William Hill
Race 6 – Class 6 Handicap (1050m)

Dam Wonderful will look to lead from out wide and we believe it has the early speed to get across and take up the running. The horse is second-up, where it has won at twice in five previous attempts, and the resuming run was terrific. It all bodes well for a quality run for Dam Wonderful.

Race 7 – Benchmark 55 (1200m)

In a hard to predict race we have to respect the recent form of Mishnah. The horse resumed well with a third placed effort at Rockhampton on January 11 and will be fitter for that effort. Mishnah has placed second-up before and will likely go forward and try and win it from the front.
