Rich Charm snares Listed win at Caulfield
Trainer Udyta Clarke has cheered home her stable star Rich Charm who has finished strongly to score a last-stride win in a Listed race at Caulfield.
Ridden by Patrick Moloney, Rich Charm ($5.50) surged late in Wednesday’s italktravel Stakes to chase down Keen Array and win by a short head with two lengths to So You Too in third.
It was five-year-old gelding Rich Charm’s seventh win from 16 starts and his third from as many attempts over the Caulfield 1200m.
Having won his first stakes race, a Group Two sprint at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup carnival now awaits the gelding who is trained and part-owned by Cranbourne-based Clarke.
“He’s races well anywhere. It just doesn’t matter where he races,” Clarke said.
“He’s just such a good horse, isn’t he?”
Moloney has been Rich Charm’s regular jockey in recent preparations and said it was a thrill to win again on the gelding.
“He’s the horse that I’ve been really looking forward to all spring, basically, because I know how much ability he has got and how much he means to Mrs Clarke and the team,” Moloney said.
“I got a massive thrill out of it and I think he’s got another good race in him this spring.”
