Ravi headlines Snowdens’ Sheraco attack

Ravi is the pick of co-trainer Peter Snowden’s three-horse attack on the Group Three Sheraco Stakes.

Snowden said Ravi was marginally ahead of Nancy and Serene Majesty for Saturday’s fillies and mares race over 1200m at Rosehill.

“I think it’s Ravi’s race because she’s had a couple of trials, she’s drawn a nice gate and she’s proven in the wet or dry,” Snowden said.

“She’s had a really good preparation to run well first-up.”

More than half of the field are resuming including the three Snowden-trained runners.

Godolphin mare Pearls won the Group Three Toy Show Quality (1300m) first-up on August 20.

Pearls defeated Sheraco runners Dixie Blossoms and Heavens Above, who finished second and fourth respectively.

Dropping back to 1200m and with a three-kilogram weight advantage, Dixie Blossoms is the $5 favourite to turn the tables on Pearls, an $8 chance.

Ravi is second pick at $6.

Nancy and Serene Majesty are both looking for further, Snowden said.

“Serene Majesty showed last time when she got to seven (furlongs) she started performing better and winning,” he said.

“I think the six furlongs is just a touch short for her first-up.”

Nancy’s win in the Group Three Godolphin Crown at Hawkesbury in April convinced Snowden that her ideal distance was 1300m.

“There’s no fluke about her,” he said.

“She’s got a good draw and her trials have been good.

“1300 metres is her right distance and we’ll stick to that distance throughout the preparation.”

Snowden said Serene Majesty was likely to race in the $400,000 Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill on September 24, while Ravi and Nancy could head to Melbourne for the How Now Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield a week earlier.
