Randwick-Kensington racing tips – Wednesday, 3 June 2020

Hugh Bowman racing news
Hugh Bowman is the form jockey on the Kensington circuit at Royal Randwick.

Randwick’s inner track, Kensington, will feature just the seven metro races on Wednesday with the first jumping at 12:50pm AEST. The track is currently rated a Soft 7, so we can expect to be racing on a wet surface. The rail will be out just the 1m for the entire course.

Wednesday betting tips for Randwick-Kensington

Best Bet
Race 3 – More Prophets @ $2.80

Race 3 on the program looks a race in two with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott’s Indigenous ($2.05) against John Thompson’s More Prophets ($2.80). We are siding with the latter for a few reasons. Indigenous maps to lead, but we have Pitchfork and Big Lion mapped to go forward also and apply plenty of pressure to Tim Clark and the favourite. Hugh Bowman from barrier four will get back to near last in the small field of seven and use More Prophets’ promising turn of foot to get her over the top late. She is coming off a very narrow defeat at Kembla Grange last start over 1400m on a rain-affected surface and should get similar conditions tomorrow. Her strong late sectionals should be enough to get her home over the favourite, which will be looking to make every post a winner.

Next Best
Race 6 – Mantelli @ $4.20 Bet365

Chris Waller’s gelding Mantelli is resuming in a 1400m BM70 tomorrow and has been well supported in the market early on, suggesting there is some confidence with the maiden winner. The 3yo by Per Incanto has had the three runs for a win, a second and a third, with that win coming on a soft track at Doomben back in January. On debut, he finished a half-length off Vanna Girl, which has just won two consecutive Listed races in Brisbane. The booking of leading Sydney jockey James McDonald is always a positive one, and we should see him in a forward role from barrier two. There doesn’t appear to be a great deal of speed in the race with current favourite Maggie Miss the likely lamplighter. Expect J-Mac to take a sit and finish over the top for us.

Best Value
Race 7 – Brazen Gem @ $9 Sportsbet

Hugh Bowman is riding the Kensington track better than anyone at the minute with 12 wins and 15 placings from 55 rides on the inner circuit. We see no reason why he can’t make it another good day when he rides Brazen Gem for Bjorn Baker in the final event on the program. The Brazen Beau filly has won three in a row and appears over the odds in this. She’s had two runs on a soft track for two wins, which is important for this race as the surface could be quite chopped up by the last. There is plenty of speed in this field, so Bowman will get back in the run from gate 12 and find the lane down the middle that has been so profitable for him over the last few meetings. Getting back to fillies and mares grade will suit Brazen Gem greatly. At $9, we are keen to play each way.
