Randwick betting preview
Another 10-race card will greet us this Saturday at Royal Randwick in the lead up to the Christmas holidays. The track is currently rated a Soft 6, the rail is out +5m for the entire course, and the first race will kick off the day at 12:40pm local time.
Mark Newnham saddles up the handy mare Fulmina in a winnable race. To be ridden by Tom Sherry, who claims 2kg out of barrier four, she will be suited by what will be a good tempo set by Knight and Bigboyroy. First up this campaign, she was a real eyecatcher coming from last to run third, so she should appreciate the extra 100m here up to a mile. She loves wet going, is undefeated at Randwick and should win this.

Bjorn Baker’s Edison is looking down the barrel of back-to-back wins on Saturday after fighting back in tough fashion a fortnight ago at Rosehill. Fis form on soft tracks (2:1-1-0) suggests the going this weekend will suit him down to the ground. He is yet to be defeated over 1400m, so that’s another big plus. From barrier 11 under Tim Clark, he will cruise over and look to settle in the first four or so in running. If he isn’t caught wide without cover, he should be too good for these.

True Detective lines up here second up after an even run first up behind Pandemic. He stretches out to 1200m, which will see him improve, and he should be aided by the strong tempo that’ll be set out in front. The barrier gods haven’t been all that kind, with the four-year-old son of Shamus Award having to jump from gate 14 here. Chris Waller has elected to book senior rider Brenton Avdulla instead of the claiming apprentice like last time, which is a good sign. He can improve out of sight here.
