Rain sees Magic Circle firm into Melbourne Cup favourtism
HEAVY rain at Flemington has seen the slop-loving stayer Magic Circle firm into favouritism at online bookmaker Sportsbet ahead of the race that stops a nation.
Sportsbet clients have unloaded on the English stayer after a change in track conditions, which has lead the online bookmaker to wind the import into $7.
Lloyd Williams-owned Yuctan has drifted slightly in the market but remains alongside Magic Circle as the Melbourne Cup favourite.
The win could be a famous one at Flemington after Magic Cricle’s owner Marwan Koukash vowed to strip down to his g-string should the gelding salute.
Sportsbet is offering $3.00 for any punter brave enough to back Marwan in to follow through on his promise.
Sportsbet representative Ella Zampatti said the punters came as hard as the rain came down on Flemington for the British import ahead of the big one.
“Plenty of punters have been loading up on Magic Circle to win after the heavens opened, if he does salute we’re tipping it’ll be a chilly celebration for Koukash.”
