Rain follows Forster’s pair home
Queenslanders Too Good To Refuse and Cylinder Beach have fled Sydney’s big wet only to be confronted by a likely deluge in their home state.
Trainer Desleigh Forster had planned to continue Too To Refuse and Cylinder Beach’s Sydney campaigns in the hope the rain would stop.
“But in the end it just got too wet. They get through the wet but to compete against the top horses they probably need a good track,” Forster said.
“So we have come home and there is always next spring or autumn. They are both only four-year-olds.
“They both raced well in Sydney without having much luck when they got back too far in their races.”
Too Good To Refuse will run in the Open Hcp (1600m) at Doomben on Saturday provided it isn’t too wet.
The remnants of Cyclone Debbie are making their way down the east coast from north Queensland and are expected to dump heavy rain in the south east corner this week.
“You can’t do much about nature. If it rains, it rains but it is following me around,” Forster said.
Dan Griffin will take over as Too Good To Refuse’s jockey on Saturday.
“Dan has been riding for me a bit of late. I was going to use Jim Byrne but there was a mix-up and I thought he was going to Sydney but he isn’t now,” Forster said.
“But it was too late and I want someone who can get Too Good to Refuse going, which is Dan.”
Too Good To Refuse is likely to push on to the Group One Doomben Cup on May 20.
“Corey Brown rode Too Good To Refuse in the Newcastle Newmarket and was impressed by his fourth,” Forster said.
“He told me Too Good To Refuse was looking for 2000 metres and the Doomben Cup looks ideal.”
Cylinder Beach is headed to the Toowoomba Cup on Saturday week.
“I am looking more long term to the Brisbane Cup over 2400 metres for Cylinder Beach,” Forster said.
“He has done well since coming back from Sydney and I am looking forward to the winter with him.”
