Queensland Oaks meeting called off
Deteriorating weather in Brisbane has forced the Queensland Oaks meeting to be called off.
Stewards initially passed the Eagle Farm track as raceable but after another 40mm of rain a further inspection was held at 9am on Saturday.
In all more than 60mm had fallen on the track in four hours.
Chief steward Allan Reardon and Brisbane Racing Club staff spent 10 minutes on the track before deciding the meeting could not go ahead.
A decision on the fate of the meeting will be decided later on Saturday.
The Queensland Oaks meeting was to be the first at Eagle Farm for 22 months after a multi-million dollar refurbishment of the track and facilities.
