Quaddie tips for Thursday, February 16 races at Pakenham

quaddie tips
THURSDAY racing returns to Pakenham for a night meeting under lights on the outskirts of the Victorian capital.

Last week’s quaddie was a heartbreaker for us.

We got two winners from the four but had no luck in the other two legs. This week’s quad looks to be a difficult one again but we have elected to cast our net a little wider in order to get that dividend for our loyal readers.

Race five on the card at Pakenham is the Bon Hoysted Appr. Cup, which kicks off the quaddie at 8pm.

Race 5 – Bon Hoysted Appr. Cup BM70 (1200m)

A smaller field of eight kicks off the Pakenham quaddie and we have narrowed the runners down to a pair of in-form gallopers.

Adalita returned two weeks ago after a short let up to win in stylish fashion at Pakenham. The mare faces identical conditions to the ones it saw back then which means anything less than a solid performance would be surprising.

Moral Outrage has been in quality form this preparation.

After a disappointing showing on New Years Eve upon resumption the Hayes and Daberning gelding came out and won at Pakenham before backing that up two weeks later at the Valley to finish third in a strong field. The four-year-old is undefeated at the track and distance and will be a serious player on Thursday.

Race 6 – XXXX Gold BM64 (1400m)

The biggest field of the quaddie confronts punters for our second leg but there are three standouts to our eye.

Star Impulse has been fantastic over its last two runs. The seven-year-old narrowly missed out in a photo at Sale before a second consecutive second placed finish just over a week later. Star Impulse comes into Thursday after a 48 day let up and should be a big player.

Four-year-old Caruselle could not have been more impressive in its last outing at Sale. Over the same class and distance it will confront on Thursday the mare torched the field to win by just under three lengths. There is no reason to think Caruselle cannot replicate that run.

Single Note has been terrific over the last three runs without breaking through for the win.

Across two of the last three runs Single Note has gone down by less than half a length, while a step up in class led to a second placed finish behind Diamond Baroness in the middle of January. Single Note drops back in class today and is certain to be in the finish.

Race 7 – Stockland Retirement BM64 (1600m)

By far the toughest race of the day to predict greets us in the third leg of the quad.

Stone Warrior returns from a freshen up after a terrific run of form. The four-year-old broke its maiden back at the end of November and did not finish outside the placings in its subsequent three runs after. Should be in the finish on Thursday.

Another runner returning from a short spell is Mr Churchill. The five-year-old Churchill Downs progeny did not finish outside the placings this preparation and looks to be one of the main contenders on Thursday.

Casinoholic is looking to continue a sparkling run of form which has seen the mare finish inside the first four in every race it has contended in since late October of 2016. Last time out as a double figure runner the seven-year-old just missed out on a win at Sandown. Casinoholic will be in the judge’s eye line on Thursday.

Parallel World is looking to bounce back after an ordinary benchmark 64 debut at the beginning of the month. Prior to that the three-year-old filly won its maiden race in eye-catching fashion. Anything close to that run will see Parallel World going close.

Race 7 quaddie tips: 1, 2, 4 and 11

Race 8 – Sportsbet BM78 (1600m)

A field of 12 rounds out the quaddie today and we believe a trio of runners will fight out the finish in the eighth race on the card.

Look At Me Now is aiming to bounce back after a poor showing at Ballart just over a week ago. Prior to that the Weir runner had not finished outside the placings in six runs that included two wins. The four-year-old mare is more than capable of winning here.

Top weight Aurora Glow will be looking to emulate a spectacular run from two weeks ago which saw the mare topple Diamond Baroness at Sandown as a double figure runner. The four-year-old returns after a slight let up and should be fighting fit on Thursday.

Gingie put in a fantastic run at Caulfield two weeks ago after jumping awkwardly from the stall. The $21 chance rallied late to claim third in a black book display. Drops slightly in weight on Thursday and has the ability to be in the frame at Pakenham after racing in the higher grades.
