Quaddie tips for Thursday, April 6 races at Pakenham

quaddie tips
THE regular Pakenham quaddie returns in the opening week of April after last week’s heartbreak.

We managed to snare two legs of our quaddie, but the other two were agonisingly close, getting a pair of second placings to rule a winning dividend out.

As the old adage suggests however we get straight back on the proverbial horse and this week were are confident we will generate a winning bet for our loyal readers this week.

Race five on the card at Pakenham is the Meluca Group Handicap Class One, which kicks off the quaddie at 8pm.

Race 5 – Meluca Group Handicap Class One (1200m)

A pair of top weights are expected to be in the finish if our predictions are correct for leg one of Thursday’s quaddie.

Shane Stockdale runner Go The Wolf was a brilliant winner on debut at Stony Creek a week ago. The four-year-old entered the race as a $5 chance but took the maiden out like an even-money shot. Thursday represents a direct step up in class but it should not be beyond the gelding to back up the impressive win.

Another first-start, first-win runner is Greg Eurell’s gelding Tecza. Two weeks ago at Pakenham the gelding lead from the front and fought on admirably to record an eye-catching win. The experience at the course will assist greatly.

Three-year-old colt Tenappy Ladies took five runs to break the maiden tag, but after finally breaking through at Sandown two weeks ago there is a buzz around about the Golden Statue product. There is no reason to think it cannot kick on and have a great follow up to that win.

Race 6 – Nine Mile Fresh BM64 (1400m)

Thumbtacks is a runner that has scolded us in the past but we cannot ignore the ten-year-old’s past performances. The gelding has a great record at the track and should be in the mix.

Ocean Grove is a runner that is in a rich vein of form. In the three-year-old’s last four runs it has won twice and finished outside the first four just once. It has won once and placed another time in three attempts at the track.

Everything seems to be falling into place for a big run for Pop Queen. The mare returns to a distance where it has never missed a placing, and is third up where it is previously undefeated. The three-year-old carries less weight than the main elects and will be hard to beat.

Race 7 – IGA BM64 (1600m)

There is not a lot of in-form runners taking to the track to this one so we are going on faith for the third leg of the quaddie.

Pharrell looks to have turned around a poor run of form at Pakenham last week to place at a huge price. The six-year-old has a close to 50 percent place strike rate and will relish being third up where it has won the past.

Outdone is one runner that has some decent form coming into the race. Having placed in its last two runs the one time winner is looking set to add a second win to its resume.

Lotion has gate 11 to overcome on Thursday, but the five-year-old can truly make an impact if it can get some luck from the wide draw. The Hayes and Daberning runner was vetted and passed fit to run last week so we are prepared to excuse the poor run. Should be in the mix proving it gets some luck in the run.

Race 8 – Sportsbet Racing Form BM64 (1200m)

The last leg of the quaddie has a few familiar runners rolling around Pakeham for us, and we are backing these horses to bring us home.

Jocasta has been in a sensational vein of form in recent times. In its last seven runs the mare has finished second five times and won its last start. Anything close to its last start win will see it smash this field on Thursday.

Robert Smerdon filly Alaskan Sun was great two weeks back at Sandown in its maiden win. In some serendipitous symmetry the three-year-old finished fourth, third, second and then first across its last four starts. We are confident it can go back-to-back Thursday.

Shadowbrook Lass’ last start third gave punters plenty of hope that a win could be just around the corner after following a string of heartbreaking finishes. Three-weeks-ago at Ballarat the mare came from midfield to claim third in a relatively strong field. It looks ready to win again.
