Quaddie tips for the Warwick Farm April 6 Wednesday races

Warwick Farm
THIS week the quaddie moves to Warwick Farm with four good-sized fields on the card. The talent of thoroughbreds on offer looks to be better than your average mid-week meeting – we should have a big night ahead of us.

The first race (Race 4 at 3:05pm) is a rating 78 handicap featuring the likes of the John O’Shea-trained Circular and last-start winner, Tremezzina.

Leg 1 – Rating 78 Handicap (1400m)

Chris Waller lines up last start winner Tremezzina which took advantage of the deteriorating track conditions at Kembla Grange. Form books might say the track was rating good, but it was cutting up and most winners were coming down the outside rail. This three-year-old goes best on rain-affected ground so the dry conditions won’t suit best here, but consider as a quaddie inclusion at $4.60.

Circular is fresh up for Godolphin after facing some handy rivals at its last three starts. The filly by Street Cry finished fourth and the second behind All Cerise which has competed well in higher grades. Circular’s last win came in maiden grade and this is quite the step up, but it has always demonstrated talent and it has been well supported at $5.50.

Current $3.80 favourite Hermosa Beach didn’t have the best of luck behind Tremezzina last start, but Hugh Bowman is back in the saddle and that’s a big plus. Trained by Matthew Dale, the five-year-old mare has won four from 11 with three coming at this distance and this track should suit nicely. Handles all tracks and should be included.

Leg 1 quaddie tips: 4, 6, 7, 9

Leg 2 – Ranvet 3YO Rating 67 Handicap (1400m)

Sanaya is still a maiden runner after three starts, but it is in the right hands and it should progress through the grades. The Chris Waller-trained, Vinery Stud-owned filly has finished in behind Way Too Good, Dixie Chick and Lady Sniper which bodes well for this level and its breakthrough win will come shortly. Hugh Bowman partners it again and it should prove tough to beat at $3.50.

Crevettine wasn’t suited by the track conditions at Kembla Grange and punters are right to give it another chance. The Lonhro filly was a game winner on debut at Wyong and despite drawing barrier 12 in this, it looms as a major winning hope. Well supported at $4.40 for quaddie punters.

Champagne Ready is worth a mention at big odds of $34. That price looks way too high for a filly which ran second on debut behind Maraam and is by More Than Ready. This isn’t an easy race, but with Tommy Berry in the saddle, we’ll add it for some value.

Leg 2 quaddie tips: 7, 8, 12

Leg 3 – Coolmore Rating 78 Handicap (1200m)

Brooklyn Storm will look to continue the good run of Bjorn Baker with another win. The Hinchinbrook gelding was a 3.8-length winner at Gosford last start and it should be able to handle the steep rise in class. It’s clearly a talented type and it will need to be from barrier 11, but include it into selections at $3.70.

Let’s Make It Rain isn’t making a habit of winning, having won only one from 10 starts. Bookmakers have it on the third line of betting for this after an encouraging third-place finish at Gosford which should give it some confidence. There are doubts that it could be a pure wet-tracker, but it has ability and just needs some luck in running. Young Andrew Adkins is riding very well and the 3kg claim helps at $5.50.

Include Onemorezeta, Puzzling Wonder and Well Hardly Ever in calculations. All three are capable of showing their best here and the market suggests they all have winning hopes.

Leg 3 quaddie tips: 2, 4, 8, 10, 11

Leg 4 – Tab Rating 70 Handicap (1600m)

Tricky final leg, but Santa Rocks looks the main horse to beat. The Hawkes-trained mare flew home for fifth in a higher-graded race last start and its form prior included close up finishes in tougher fields. It is unbeaten in two runs second up and Tommy Berry will partner it again. It drops in weight which helps and the $5 looks like good value.

Miami Dade has been well supported at $6 and any positive betting moves would bring it right into contention come race day. The John O’Shea-trained gelding has won its last two, both over this distance, and it looks ready to make the step up to this grade. It can be a little one-paced which is odd for a gelding by Commands, but we suggest adding into your bets.

Leg 4 quaddie tips: 11, 13
