Punters splash out on Inglis Guineas favourite Spill The Beans

The Gerald Ryan-trained Spill The Beans will contest the $400,000 Inglis 3YO Guineas at Scone today and it will be carrying a large amount of punters’ money.

Coming off a last-start win in the Hawkesbury Guineas, the Snitzel three-year-old has been heavily supported at numerous bookmakers. It opened at $2.70 earlier in the week with money also coming for the Gai Waterhouse-trained Supply And Demand, but it has been one-way traffic since.

Spill The Beans is now into $1.60 with some bookmakers after big bets were placed this morning. The biggest bet placed was a whopping $58,000 win bet at $2.70 with Palmerbet. Another $5000 went on at Luxbet.com at the shorter price of $2.30 and it hasn’t stopped shortening since.

Supply And Demand has subsequently drifted from $3.20 to $3.80 and there hasn’t been money for any other runner in the Guineas.

A potential top-liner has also been well-backed on Saturday morning. The unbeaten Elegant Composure goes around in the Led Super Screens R85 Handicap at Doomben (1.26pm) and punters have launched into the popular mare. Crownbet.com.au took a $5000 bet at $2.80 which and it has trimmed the price down to $2.50 currently.

The Chris Anderson-trained mare is a perfect six-from-six and its last two performances were full of class. The daughter of Bradbury’s Luck hits the line with real force and remaining unbeaten seems highly likely.

Other big bets throughout the day have come on Japonisme in the Group 1 BTC Cup and Charlevoix in the South Australian Derby. The Chris Waller-trained Japonisme is group one proven and bookmakers have already taken bets of $4000 at $4 and $2000 at $4.20.

Charlevoix has been well-backed all week and more money has come late for the three-year-old. Two bets of $3000 at $3.60 and one bet of $3000 at $4 has forced bookmakers to adjust the market. It is now a firm $3.50 favourite over the Darren Weir-trained Howard Be Thy Name at $5.50.
