Punt Drunk: Today’s Top Racing Tips | 06/03/21

Punt Drunk Daily – 6/3/21

It’s here punters! Super Saturday at Flemington and Randwick Guineas day at Randwick, as well as plenty of top class racing around the country! We have plenty of races around the country to sink our teeth into and then absolutely truckload September Run later in the day.

With a bit of luck our Punt Drunk preview can steer you into a couple of winners!

We’ll make this quick about the Newmarket Handicap

If you haven’t realised over the past couple of days we are more keen on September Run in the Newmarket Handicap than what we are to a beer. The Waller-trained filly looks well placed to build on her last start second behind Nature Strip in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes a month ago. With a light weight on her back we are backing the filly to etch her name amongst some of Australia’s greatest ever sprinters.

Time to make it a perfect over! 6/6

With plenty of kiwi superstars coming over and making a name for themselves, it is hard not to get excited about the fact Aegon can go 6/6 with a win in the Randwick Guineas. His win on his Australian debut three weeks back was as impressive as it gets and you would hope he would only benefit from the run. He will need to overcome the insane record that Peltzer has at Randwick, where the gelding is five wins from five starts, but Aegon looks to be one of the next best things in the racing world.

Upset brewing in the Australian Cup?

It is close to $5 the field in today’s Australian Cup, but deadset we think we have found one over the odds. Steel Prince for Anthony and Sam Freedman will go around at double figure odds today ($12 available at the time of writing) and with Jamie Kah on board it’s the one we want to be with. Bloke is as honest as the day is old and once being touted as a quality stayer we are hoping it is his class that will shine through today.

Sorry Biv, we are on a break

Listen, we know Bivouac isn’t a sure thing at 1000m in hindsight, but stepping to 1300m for the first time since he was a two-year-old is something we are going to avoid. So we are jumping on his stablemate Savatiano and with Hugh Bowman on bird in the Canterbury Stakes we are hoping it’s a Group 1 race-to-race double for the superstar jock.

If you multi all four of our selections for a win you will get a cheeky $232 for your dollar.

Punt Drunk’s best bet of the day

Load up American Pie fans, The Stiffmeister is arguably the first horse inducted into the Punt Drunk hall of fame. If he wins today we will elevated him to legend status! His debut run was superb when he made up countless lengths in the home straight, but ran out of room and needed to settle for a second placed finish. He shouldn’t be too far back in the field this time round and should be charging home late to give us a nice leg up to begin the day.
