Punt Drunk The Championships hangover edition

Well, what a day of Group 1 racing that was!

We simply could not take our eyes off the action at Randwick, and how bloody good was Addeybb when going back to back in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes? Add in Hungry Heart bringing up back to back Group 1 wins, and Nettoyer causing a boil over yet again, this time in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes! What a day it was, and let’s hope you all finished the day in front!

Just How Good Is Addeybb?

22 career starts, 12 wins, and four runner up performances. Those are the stats of the elite mile and a quarter horse Addeybb. He has been outstanding in both of his Queen Elizabeth Stakes wins over the last 12 months, and we are willing to say his win yesterday was better than the 2020 edition despite the small margin of victory. Having been defeated convincingly by Verry Elleegant in the Ranvet Stakes three weeks ago, the William Haggas-trained star needed to lift in a big way to turn the tables. With the blinkers going on Addeybb fought off the challenge of VE and held a decent enough margin on the line to show his pure class. Could we dare dream that we could see Addeybb out this time next year for a hat trick of Queen Elizabeth Stakes?

Sky Racing, Get In The Bin ….. Again

One race is worth close to a million dollars, the other is a BM64 with just under $35k on the line, and you guessed it, we were split screened. Deadset, we have bloody seen it all now. We understand Sky has a hatred for Victorian racing because they can’t show it on Thoroughbred Central, but when does common sense kick in?

We would rather watch paint dry than watch horse mill around behind the barriers when there is another race on, let alone a marquee race at the metropolitan meeting in Melbourne! So, for pete’s sake, the NSW bias shit out and broadcast the races us battlers want to see properly! There could have been genuine riots right around the country based on the pathetic effort from the producer’s at Sky.
