Punt Drunk: Dream draw for Arcadia Queen in All Star Mile

Smithers and Mr Burns

Punt Drunk Daily – 10/3/2021

Happy Hump Day, #PuntDrunk readers! Give your partner a hug, call in sick and head down to the local for an afternoon on the punt. We have six gallops meetings to sink our teeth into through the day, including the one in Otaki across the dutch.

All Star dream for Arcadia Queen

Not only does Arcadia Queen have the wonderful William Pike in the saddle for the All Star Mile, she has the benefit of jumping from barrier five on Saturday afternoon. With her natural racing style to settle on the outside of a runner in midfield, it is the perfect draw for the Mackinnon Stakes winner. Her main market rival, Probabeel, did not fare as well and will need a touch of luck early from barrier 10 to be a chance of running out a solid mile in this elite field. Connections of Behemoth, who will jump from gate one, will be hoping that he can get a bit of luck when it matters most, while backers of Cox Plate winner Sir Dragonet must be praying that his underwhelming run in the CF Orr Stakes was a once off. Boy, are we pumped up about this year’s All Star Mile! The team at HorseBetting.com.au will have it all covered for you later in the week.

Golden Slipper merry-go-round

Since the weekend, we have seen more jockey changes for the Golden Slipper than we’ve had winners in that time. With Enthaar not heading towards the Slipper, Mark Zahra will now jump aboard Black Opal winner Kalashnikov, who is the son of Capitalist, a former Golden Slipper winner. Another noticeable change was Tommy Berry being the new booking for the well-fancied Stay Inside, with the colt’s regular jockey, James McDonald, opting to hop on board one of Chris Waller’s runners, most likely Home Affairs. The move for Berry has now given him a red-hot chance to bag a third Golden Slipper, having already won on Overreach (2013) and Vancouver (2015).

Good news at last for Brett Scott

Finally there is some good news regarding the trainer Brett Scott, who woke up from his induced coma after being kicked in the head by one of his horses during track work last week. There is still a long road to recovery ahead for the former jumps jockey, but we are just glad there is something good to come out of the past few days.

Punt Drunk’s best bet of the day

In what looks to be a pretty thin BM68, the form that Royal Mile has put on the board in his four career starts is the form we want to be with. From barrier four under Jacob Opperman he should be afforded a perfect run in transit before hitting the line hard late. He has already won at Naracoorte and looks to be a little over the odds at $3.50.
