Powerhouse stables attracting punters at Gosford this Tuesday

Punters don’t have to wait till Saturday to find the powerhouse stables in action. There are some great betting opportunities at Gosford on Tuesday and we’ll look at some of the better bets of the day.

Bjorn Baker is looking to continue his incredible run with two heavily-favoured runners. The first is three-year-old filly Baroque Girl which lines up in The Grange Hotel Rating 63 at 2.25pm.

The daughter of Sebring is looking to go back-to-back at Gosford after winning by 2.3 lengths on May 12 and punters have backed it early. It is currently the $2.75 favourite at Sportsbet.com.au with the Gary Portelli-trained All My Loving the second elect at $4.20.

Baker lines up another exciting filly later in the day. The unbeaten Your Way contests the Majestic Cinema C2 Handicap at 3.40pm and it looks to have plenty of upside.

The filly by Thewayyouare has been well-backed on both outings to date ($4.00 and $2.50) and punters have come strong for it again. The three-year-old is at $2 with Sportsbet and we think that price will stay at even money or continue to shortern. It drops down 3.5kg from its last win and another strong performance looks likely.

Gai Waterhouse lines up Vasiliev in the opening race at Gosford which will run as one of the shortest-priced favourites of the day. The two-year-old colt finished third on debut at Canterbury and it meets a much easier field at midweek level.

The well-bred son of Medaglia D’oro will enjoy the step up in distance to 1600m, but punters will have to take the shorts at $1.80. We expect Vasiliev to be running through a few early multi-bets which is made easier by Sportsbet’s multi-bet insurance. Take any three-leg horse racing multi and if one of your legs loses, you get your cash back up to $50.

One of the best fields of the day is the Cafe F3 Group Maiden Handicap, which features a big market mover. The Ron Quinton-trained Allegheny opened at $3.80 after winning a trial at Randwick, but that price was quickly snapped up by the early punters. It’s now at $3 and will continue to tumble as the support comes.

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Black Eye Pea and Hawkes-trained Tim’s Principal are both on debut and their prices have subsequently drifted from $3.80 to $4.

Chris Waller will start the shortest-priced favourite of the day with Destination Tuscon in The Sunken Monkey Hotel Maiden. The three-year-old filly has yet to win or place in five career starts, but bookmakers are taking no chances. Sportsbet opened it at $1.70 which looks a touch short for our liking.

The daughter of High Chaparral took on a better maiden field at Randwick last start and will find this easier, but punters will be wanting at least $2 for a runner which has yet to trouble the scorers.

All-in-all a good punting day on the horizon at Gosford this Tuesday. Most of the fields contain short-priced favourites, but small fish are sweet and they are good for building up those profitable multi bets.
