Positive change for filly at Doomben

Horse trainer Bryan Guy

The lure of black-type has convinced trainer Bryan Guy to switch missions for promising filly Absolutlypositivly at Doomben.

Absolutlypositivly is raced by an Aquis Farm syndicate and trained on the Gold Coast by Guy in partnership with his son Daniel.

At her first start Absolutlypositivly won a Gold Coast two-year-old maiden over 1200m by nearly two lengths.

The Guys had planned to run her in Saturday’s Furances@Aquis Farm Crystal Fillies Plate but switched her to the Listed Winning Edge Stakes (1350m).

Bryan Guy said he was excited about Absolutlypositivly but realised she was facing a step up in class.

“I would have liked to run her in the other race because Aquis has given $50,000 extra in prize money and they would love to win their own race,” Guy said.

“But in the end they have a breeding operation too and to get black-type for the filly at her second start would be just as important.”

“I know she drew the outside barrier in the Winning Edge but she has the pace to get into a good position.”

“She was a good second in a trial before her first start. And not many two-year-olds win their first starts at 1200 metres.”
