Pike, Boobs & Benbow – Saturday On The Punt Delivers | Punt Drunk

Well, what a day that was! Saturday produced some favourable results with Isotope getting the chocolates over Away Game in a preview to their Magic Millions match up in a month’s time. Punters returned to Flemington for the first time in nine months and boy didn’t Darren Flindell have a hard day of it in Sydney with some horrible visibility throughout!

However, they’re just a few of the headlines to come out of the mammoth day of racing and boy have we saved some good ones for you! Especially with how perfectly scripted the day ended!

2020 may have been a rough one for many, but how good was it to round out a day on the punt if you back Willie Pike in the final race at Ascot yesterday afternoon? Not only did he snare the win aboard Dig Deep at $7 but he got the job done in race named after the great man himself, the “Pikeysaysthankwa Handicap”. Now it seems like a horrible scrabble word to come up against, but geez what a ripping 6 months the wizard of the west is having! What a man! We’ll drink to that William!

God Bless Champagne & Boobs

Punters are definitely excited about being back at the races.

Think of where we were six months ago, in the middle of a pandemic, the thought of going to the Spring Carnivals in Sydney and Melbourne were only a far fetched dream and the thought of even dressing up made our tracksuit pants cringe. However, as you can tell prior to race four at Randwick yesterday, one punter wanted to show the world how much she enjoyed being back at the races. We tip our cap at the cameraman for sneakily catching that but moving on so quickly too! On another note, punters were also welcomed back to Flemington where the club could have held a crowd of 5000 in line with Covid-19 laws in Victoria.

Well done Benbow!

Jason Benbow was ready to step away from racing after multiple serious injuries that threatened to curtail a promising career. He was given the assignment to combine with the undefeated filly Written Miss from the Caroline Jennings in race two at Flemington. She’ll sleep well tonight after a tough on pace victory which saw her needing every ounce of effort to push through to remain undefeated. If things go the fillies way, expect her to be spelled now and ready for a tilt at black-type events or in Online Friendlies.
