Pearls could be the next Godolphin jewel

PearlsTHE WELL-bred Pearls made light work of its opposition at Gosford last Thursday and it could be Godolphin’s next big star.

Pearls is the fourth foal to race out of champion broodmare Accessories – which also left Helmut, Epaulette and Bullbars – and it won like a horse going places.

Pearls, by Exceed And Excel, was sent out the $2.25 favourite in the 1200-metre race on Thursday and it won by an easy length on the line.

With Sam Clipperton in the saddle, he eased the filly back before producing a scintillating run in the straight. Clipperton eased Pearls up on the line and bigger things are now expected for the talented filly.

Assistant trainer Darren Beadman was happy with the win.

“I really like the way she lengthened without too much difficulty,” Beadman said.

“She’s a little racehorse and is a very loose action type of filly. She takes everything in her stride.”

Pearls is the sister to Helmut which won the Group 1 Sires’ Produce and the Group 1 Champagne Stakes as a juvenile before winning the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas in its next season.

Pearls is currently a $34 chance at Sportsbet.com.au to win the Group 1 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield on October 10.
