Race 1 – Maiden Plate (1200m)

Call Me Loyal confronted a maiden at Caulfield on January 17 and still managed to hold a great account of itself, rounding out the first four. The horse gets a much easier task here and is well drawn enough to be a major player.

Race 1 tip: Call Me Loyal to win at Neds

Race 2 – Maiden Plate (1600m)

Bam missed out by half a length at Pakenham on January 18 and with natural progression should be right in the mix here. From barrier five the galloper will be prominent enough and we think it can be in the leading division and kick on when it matters most.

Race 2 tip: Bam to win at Neds

Race 3 – Maiden Plate (1600m)

Fontein Ali is drawn well to get an ideal cart into the race and we believe that will be the divisive factor in seeing this veteran of the maidens finally break the grade. The horse has placed second in back-to-back events, so the form cannot be faulted.

Race 3 tip: Fontein Ali to win at Neds

Race 4 – Maiden (1000m)

Miss Nitro will look to put the afterburners on from barrier four and take this race out from the front. The Star Witness filly missed out by a decent margin back on January 16, but still managed to finish second. We think the Kane Harris-trained three-year-old stands out from the pack here.

Race 4 tip: Miss Nitro to win at Neds

Race 5 – Class 1 (1000m)

Moonlight Ruby returns to the Melbourne area after breaking the maiden at Bairnsdale and will relish running fresh. The horse has not run since recording that win on December 11 and we think that will be telling here.

Race 5 tip: Moonlight Ruby to win at Neds

Race 6 – Benchmark 70 (1200m)

The market sees Urban Explorer as an outsider, but we reckon it can get the job done here fresh. The horse has several wins at benchmark 64 level, and has a decent record of two wins and a placing from ten first-up runs. Well worth a throw at the stumps here.

Race 6 tip: Urban Explorer to win at Neds

Race 7 – Benchmark 64 (1400m)

Something Silver steps up to BM64 level which is hard following the breakthrough maiden win, but there’s a few factors in its favour. The inside draw is handy and the fact that there’s only one other last-start winner in the field also boosts confidence. Don’t be deterred if Something Silver drifts back, it has the ability to flash over the top of them.

Race 7 tip: Something Silver to win at Neds

Race 8 – Benchmark 64 (1600m)

Wetakemanhattan is a nose hair off being undefeated coming into this race and we believe the horse will rejoin the winner’s circle at its third-ever start. This horse looks ideally suited to the mile and will look to go forward from barrier seven and pinch this from the front.

Race 8 tip: Wetakemanhattan to win at Ladbrokes
