Nolen gets first win since injury lay-off
Luke Nolen has notched his first winner since returning to the saddle from a three-month injury absence.
Best known for his association with champion Black Caviar, Nolen rode on Monday for the first time since his fall from Miss Promiscuity in the Group One Robert Sangster Stakes in Adelaide on May 7.
At his sixth ride back on Wednesday, Nolen guided four-year-old gelding Anemoi to victory in a benchmark race at Geelong.
Nolen said it took a bit of time to sharpen his skills again after such a lengthy lay-off and he was looking forward to the upcoming spring carnival.
His injuries included eight fractured ribs and a fractured shoulder blade.
“The mind is good, my weight is OK and the body is in one piece and has healed up nicely,” Nolen told Racing.com after his Geelong win.
“So I’m really happy going forward and I’m excited about the challenges in front of me in the coming months.”
