No acceptance fees for Listed races in NSW

The Australian Turf Club is to remove nomination and acceptance fees for Listed races at its four Sydney tracks.

The changes will come into effect from the start of the new season on August 1.

“The strong financial performance of the ATC allows us to absorb this revenue stream whilst maintaining current Listed race prize money levels to the benefit of all owners,” ATC chief executive Darren Pearce said.

“We aim to continue to work hard to enable further reductions in costs to owners in future years.

The move is in line with the Racing NSW strategic plan.

Racing NSW Chief Executive Peter V’landys said the initiative would create an incentive for owners.

“The removal of nomination and acceptance fees on Listed races is a great start in reducing costs to owners with Listed races capturing the broadest participation among owners of any stakes races,” V’landys said.

“It is expected that the elimination of these costs will create an incentive for more horses to at least be nominated in these races and in turn provide a boost to field sizes in these events.”
