14. Whispering Brook (2) – $5.50
15. I Am A Star (10) – $17

Opening favourite First Seal has remained steady at $4.40 and there hasn’t been much action on the other single-figure runners.

Danish Twist has drifted from $9 to $9.50, Don’t Doubt Mamma has also drifted a half-point to $7 and the well-supported Dixie Blossoms is holding firm at $6.50 on the second line of betting.

There has been support for last start winner Euro Angel. The Hawkes-trained mare has firmed in from $15 to $11 at CrownBet and the support continues to come. Punters can get a much better price of $14 at Sportsbet.com.au which should be taken before it drops.

2016 Myer Classic best each way tips

4. Danish Twist – $9

Trainer: Kris Lees
Jockey: Joao Moreira
Form: 118×35

Danish Twist has produced two stellar runs since returning from a spell. The five-year-old mare finished third in the Premiere Stakes at Randwick fresh up and that has since proven to be a good form race.

It then sprinted late in the Tristarc Stakes behind First Seal and given the difference in odds between the two runners here, we think the value is clearly with Danish Twist.

Champion international jockey Joao Moreira is in the saddle and it should enjoy running around Flemington for the first time. It likes to have time to warm up and the long straight will allow Moreira to wind up the Dane Shadow mare and launch late.

$9 for the win is a good price, but punters should take the $2.90 to place at CrownBet for a better chance of winning.

7. Don’t Doubt Mamma – $7.50

Trainer: Tony McEvoy
Jockey: Dwayne Dunn
Form: 10×511

Tony McEvoy has this four-year-old running well after back-to-back wins. It won the Let’s Elope Stakes at Flemington two starts back over 1400m and it made the step up to the mile when winning the Stocks Stakes on September 30.

Drawing barrier 13 won’t be an issue for Don’t Doubt Mamma which likes to get back and swoop late. Expect similar tactics here and it loves running at Flemington. The daughter of Not a Single Doubt is a three-time winner on this track and despite drifting in the market, it’s a strong each way chance to win at Group one level.

We expect its current odds to remain steady, so take the $7.50 on offer at Sportsbet.

CrownBet

11. Denmagic – $21

Trainer: David Pfieffer
Jockey: Zac Purton
Form: 62×444

Denmagic might only be a two-win mare, but it has been showing plenty of ability without winning this season. It has had three runs for three fourth placings, but they came against quality opposition and the rise to the mile is ideal.

It flew home in the Sheraco Stakes behind Heavens Above when fresh up this campaign before running fourth in the Golden Pendant behind Tycoon Tara. It was only 1.7 lengths behind First Seal last start and it looks ready to run well again.

The last time it raced over 1600m was when it finished second in the Queensland Guineas behind Tsaritsa and it’s currently way over the odds at $21 and $5.50 to place at WilliamHill.com.au.

14. Whispering Brook – $5.50

Trainer: Simon Miller
Jockey: Chris Parnham
Form: 11×273

Whispering Brook is a capable three-year-old which gets into this race at 49kg. That’s a big drop in weight from when it finished third in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas behind Global Glamour and punters are expecting a similar effort.

It was late scratched from the Moonee Valley Vase last Saturday and trainer Simon Miller is hoping that was a blessing in disguise.

“I’m not quite sure what went on last Saturday, she has never played up like that before,” Miller said.

“The only thing I can come up with is maybe she got stirred by the crowd given the start for the Vase was at the top of the straight.

“We had to take her back to the barriers this morning and by all reports she was fine.

“You never know, sometimes things happen for a reason and it might be a blessing in disguise.”

It opened at $6.50 and has dropped to $5.50. Those odds aren’t overly big for each way punters, but it’s still paying better than even money for the place at Sportsbet.
