Wednesday racing tips for Murray Bridge

Racing is back at Gifford Hill for the first time since Murray Bridge Cup Day, with eight races for punters to sink their teeth into from 12:45pm ACDT this Wednesday. A near-perfect spring day is forecast, and with the rail in the true position and the track coming up a Good 4, we are set fair for a great day of racing in South Australia.

Best BetRace 1 – Selix (#9) Get the best odds

It takes someone who is quite brave to tip a 15-start maiden as their best bet of the day, but it’s hard to go past Alex Stra’s 4YO mare. She has had four starts at the track and is yet to miss a place, and with quite a thin maiden accepted from the ones who have raced, the only danger will come from the unraced rivals. She maps to get a nice cart across the field from barrier nine, and as long as she isn’t trapped wide without cover, it is hard to see her getting beaten in the opening event on the card.

Next BestRace 5 – Graciebird (#10) Get the best odds

Chantelle Jolly’s 3YO filly broke through for her maiden victory at Murray Bridge two starts back and then ran into a handy one in town last start. Jake Toeroek retains the ride and rates quite highly to bring up her second career win. She maps to get the gun run in the race from barrier one, and if she gets a little bit of luck at the top of the straight, she should prove too classy for the field assembled here.

Best ValueRace 6 – Jack’s A Cracker (#1) Get the best odds

There looked to be plenty of excuses for this one’s last-start effort at Morphettville, but the Grant Young-trained gelding showed up with no abnormalities post race. He did race quite keenly just off the speed, so we are happy to give him another go here. Sophie Logan’s 1.5kg claim means he gets in well at the weights, and considering Logan has been successful on three occasions, Jack’s A Cracker should be fighting out the finish in a tricky little BM58.
