Moruya Race Club hosts an eight-race card on Friday, with the feature Bateman’s Bay Cup coming up in the penultimate race on the card. The track has come up a Good 4, the rail is set in the true position and the forecast is fair, so it looks set to be a great day of racing. The first of eight is set to jump at 1:05pm AEST.

The John O’Shea gelding has not been far away in any of his three starts this campaign, and has been right in the market in each of those. He drops to country meetings for the first time in his career and this looks like an easy kill for connections. Jeff Penza should be able to get him in a positive position in the run from barrier two, and he will take a power of holding out and looks far too good for this field here.

The Brett Lazzarini trained 4YO gelding gave nothing else a chance when an all the way leader at Wyong last start when he won by 2 lengths and did so in impressive fashion. He maps to get an easy lead with nothing else known for taking up the initiative. He will take up the running and by the 100 metre mark, he should have enough in the tank to hold off any backmarkers off a genuine tempo. He looks rock hard fit and should not burn much energy in taking up the lead from barrier four.

The Danny Williams-trained gelding is more known for his work the 1400-1600m country races, but was able to drop back to 1000m and scored after producing a big turn of foot over the last 200m at Goulburn. He does meet a handy field here, but by no means is he without a genuine chance. He will settle at the back of the field and if he can produce that turn of foot he showed at Goulburn he will be right in the finish in the Cup.
