Morphettville racing preview
Nine races are set down for decision at Morphettville on Saturday for the final meeting before the summer holidays. The Listed Christmas Handicap is the featured event on what is expected to be a scorching day in Adelaide. The track is rated a Good 4, and it may pay to be up on speed with the rail out a massive 13m from the 1200m to the winning post and then 9m the remainder. The first at Morphettville is set to jump at 12:36pm ACDT.
Former Kiwi galloper Munster was an odds-on favourite for his Australian debut but could do no better than a fourth-placed finish, although he was defeated by under a length. He looked to be left a little flat footed once the leader upped the tempo at the top of the straight, but he picked up the bit and kept chasing over the concluding stages. The four-year-old gelding should only benefit from that first-up run, and he finds a pretty thin BM58 to go around in. He maps to take up the running and dictate terms out in front here in what should be a comfortable win.

The Macdonald & Gluyas yard combine with Sophine Logan as they look to string together consecutive victories with Winning Weather. Last start she was an all-the-way victor when just hanging on in the shadows of the winning post to bring up her second career win, and prior to that she chased home the handy Star Of Uma. She’s only run out of the quinella on one occasion in her six career starts and strikes a pretty thin BM66 where she maps to take up the lead and hold it until the end.

With a favourite who appears to be quite inconsistent when a genuine tempo is run, Glory Game looks to be the play at a nice each-way price. Coming off a first-up win at Balaklava a fortnight ago, the four-year-old mare stays at 1050m and seems well placed to string together consecutive victories. Drawing underneath the favourite will only benefit her as she will get a cart across, and she may have a touch of race fitness on her side when the whips are cracking.
