Morphettville racing tips & best bets – Saturday, 16 May 2020

Harbour Views racing news
Harbour Views is fancied to win over 1600m at Morphettville this Saturday.

Nine races will be run and won at Morphettville on Saturday for the final day of the Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival. Highlighted by the Goodwood Handicap (1200m) and SA Fillies Classic (2500m), it looks to be a cracking day’s racing on what will likely be an improving track throughout the day. The rail goes out 8m from the 1200m to the post but only goes out 5m for the remainder of the course, which could create an on-speed bias.

Best bets for Morphettville

Race 5 – SA Fillies Classic 2500m
Realm Of Flowers @ $3.70

Anthony Freedman has Realm Of Flowers absolutely primed for the SA Fillies Classic here. The daughter by So You Think was dominant first up at Geelong before getting too far back and hitting the line strongly in her two attempts at Morphettville. She didn’t quite get in the Oaks field, so connections sent her to Murray Bridge last Wednesday where she looped the whole field and arrived just on time to win as a $1.60 pop. There does look to be plenty of speed in this, so her get-back-and-run-on pattern will be perfectly suited. Up to the 2500m will give Damien Thornton ample time to get the filly winding up. We expect her to be winning this and going on to bigger and better things in the spring.

Race 7 – R A Lee Stakes 1600m
Harbour Views @ $2.70

Harbour Views has had a serious rap on him since the Warrnambool May Carnival last year, when he debuted before winning five in a row. He ran into a serious horse last start that was favoured by the Sandown leader’s bias in Buffalo River but was eating into the margin in the final 100m. Second up, back up to the mile and to be reacquainted with his regular jockey, John Allen, everything is falling into place for Harbour Views. He should box seat from barrier five and be far too good.
