First Race | 11:47am ACST |
The Group 1 Goodwood (1200m) headlines the action at Morphettville as Adelaide’s autumn carnival comes to a close this Saturday. Clear skies on race day should ensure the track improves to a Good 4 rating, while the rail will be out 6m from the 1200m to the winning post and 2m for the remainder. The Morphettville races on May 10 are set to commence at 11:47am local time.
The Goodwood Tip: Giga Kick
If Giga Kick is anywhere close to his best in The Goodwood, he just simply wins his third Group 1. The five-year-old gelding is weighted perfectly first-up with just 54.5kg on his back, with the likes of Charm Stone and Climbing Star needing to give him 2kg. He is one of the best-placed horses all year, and with Mark Zahra on board from barrier 12, the pair only need to find a bit of cover early on to take out the $1 million feature.
The Goodwood
Race 8 – #7 Giga Kick (12)
5yo Gelding | T: Clayton Douglas | J: Mark Zahra (54.5kg)
David Coles AM Stakes Tip: Brave Design
Brave Design is set to return from a brief two-month spell, and if he can replicate the form he put forward in his initial campaign, he will be hard to beat in the 2025 David Coles AM Stakes (1200m). He finished three lengths off smart duo Tentyris and Shining Smile on debut before going on to be beaten two lengths by subsequent Group 1 winner Vinrock in the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m). From barrier 11, Jordan Childs will look to land in a stalking position, and once asked for an effort, Brave Design should have no issue in overhauling the leaders late on.

Race 3 – #1 Brave Design (11)
2yo Colt | T: Danny O’Brien | J: Jordan Childs (57.5kg)
SA Fillies Classic Tip: Litzdeel
The Danny O’Brien-trained Litzdeel comes to the SA Fillies Classic (2500m) on the back of a couple of impressive runs in Listed company in Melbourne. The Dundeel progeny finished third behind Statuario and Politely Dun at Caulfield before being narrowly beaten by American Wolf in the Listed St Leger (2800m) last time out. Zac Spain will roll forward from barrier 10, and barring bad luck, Litzdeel should have no issue in outstaying her rivals.

Race 5 – #5 Litzdeel (10)
3yo Filly | T: Danny O’Brien | J: Zac Spain (56kg)
Cummings Stakes Tip: Arran Bay
Arran Bay has put in strong performances in his last two starts with 60kg and then 62.5kg on his back, so he will appreciate the drop to 55.5kg in the 2025 Cummings Stakes (1600m). The All Too Hard gelding was rolled by the barest of margins last time out at this track and trip by Regal Azmon when giving that runner 8.5kg at the weights, and considering he has an 8kg swing in his favour this time around, he should be able to turn the tables. Thomas Stockdale will look to land in a prominent role from barrier seven, and if Arran Bay can sprint as he did last time out, he looks hard to go past.
Cummings Stakes
Race 6 – #2 Arran Bay (7)
6yo Gelding | T: Phillip Stokes | J: Thomas Stockdale (55.5kg)
Proud Miss Stakes Tip: New York Lustre
New York Lustre returned with a stylish win at Moonee Valley on April 26 to make it five victories in a row. The five-year-old mare was in a stalking position last time out and sprinted sharply despite doing things wrong to get the job done on a rain-affected track. Back on top of the ground looks more her go, and from barrier three, she should receive the run of the race under Carleen Hefel in the 2025 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m).

Race 7 – #5 New York Lustre (3)
5yo Mare | T: Enver Jusufovic | J: Carleen Hefel (55.5kg)
