A nine-race card is set down for judgement at Mornington on Monday afternoon to kick off another week stacked with black-type racing in Victoria. The track has come up a Soft 5 and looks likely to stay that way with showers forecasted for the morning of the meeting. The first race is set to jump at 1pm AEDT.
The best of the day at Mornington comes up in the last race, where David Brideoake and Jamie Kah combine again with Pride Of Jenni. The Pride Of Dubai filly was a dominant all-the-way winner over the same track and distance a fortnight ago, and the same tactics look set to be utilised here. From barrier six, the in-form Kah should have no issues in getting down to the rails and dictating the pace of the race to her liking.

They often say every half-decent galloper has a maiden with their name on it, and that looks the case for Art Major in the opener. He’s a horse that you need to follow from the mounting yard to the barriers, as he seems to be quite temperamental. If he looks to be well relaxed, the 4YO gelding should put this field away with ease considering what he has shown in the past. The drop in class from a city maiden to a country maiden can only help as well.

Rachael Frost’s 4YO gelding is ultra consistent on soft going, where she is yet to miss a placing after four starts. He was an eye-catching winner two starts back at Cranbourne when storming down the outside to claim victory in the shadows of the post. He maps to be worse than midfield here and will look to get a similar run in transit as he did at Cranbourne.
