More Victorian night meetings in 2016-2017
More than 10 per cent of Victorian race meetings next season will be run under lights.
Racing Victoria on Friday released the dates for the 2016-17 season which will see 57 of the 557 meetings held at night.
It represents a 15-meeting increase this season’s figure.
Moonee Valley and Cranbourne will share 34 Friday night meetings while 20 will be held at Pakenham on Thursday nights.
Pakenham will also host a meeting on Australia Day eve while its Cup meeting will be on a Saturday, joining Ballarat, Bendigo and Mornington as other out-of-town venues in hosting a stand-alone meeting.
With the AFL Grand Final scheduled for October 1, the Turnbull Stakes meeting at Flemington will be run the next day.
