Race 1 – William Hill Handicap (1500m)

Comic Set was a solid winner on debut before only battling last start. The Michael Kent-trained gelding should get a good run from the barrier here and this isn’t the hardest rating 64 field ever assembled. Follow the market for a good guide.

All Saints Day turned around a fifth on debut to win last time out at Werribee. The Corstens-trained gelding goes up in weight, but it looked to have plenty of ability and it should be paying a good each way price with bookmakers.

Baffert showed plenty of ability as a juvenile and it has shown good form without winning this campaign. The Mick Price-trained gelding has placed on this track from two starts and it showed good heart when running third last time out. Handy win chance here.

Race 1 tip: Baffert to win at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 2 – Roll The Dice Handicap (1000m)

Matty has been impressive in winning both career starts. The Ellerton/Zahra-trained gelding scored a narrow win on debut before winning by almost three lengths last start. The three-year-old by Nicconi is bred for speed and a good run is expected.

Bella Vino comes over from Sydney with winning form and it should compete well here. The Gary Portelli-trained filly has won three of its last four starts and it scored a three-length victory at Kembla Grange two starts ago. Bred to be good and it draws inside Matty which could prove vital over this distance.

Motown Lil has won only once from 10 starts, but it has placed twice in two starts at Moonee Valley and it’s worth a shot here. It finished fifth in the Red Roses behind Spright last start and that form should hold up at this level.

Race 2 tip: Bella Vino to win at Ladbrokes.com.au

Race 3 – The Drain Man Handicap (1500m)

Not Too Sure only defeated a moderate field last start, but it could be worth a chance at big odds. The seven-year-old capped off some consistent form last start and it’s not without a chance here.

Praesentia is another last start winner which gets Damien Oliver in the saddle. The eight-year-old as been around for awhile now and it runs best at this distance with five starts for two wins and two placings. It can run well on all surfaces and it should figure in the finish.

Strike Force built nicely towards the win last start and it’s good enough to make back-to-back. The Michael Moroney-trained gelding scored a narrow win on this track and the slight drop back in distance won’t worry it at all. Should be well backed.

Race 3 tip: Praesentia to win at Bet365.com

Race 4 – EJ Whitten Foundation Handicap (1200m)

Anatola finally scored for punters last start after a string of close finishes. The Price-trained mare has yet to finish outside of the top three at this track and its last start three-length win was full of quality. It goes into the mix again.

Verstappen is fresh up after failing in the Hilton Stakes last start. The highly-touted gelding has won two from four starts for Danny O’Brien and it likes to produce good track work in preparation for the races. Craig Williams rides which is a positive for punters.

Tango Rock has plenty of talent and it has placed twice from three starts this campaign. The son of Fastnet Rock has performed well in harder races and it should adjust well to racing at Moonee Valley.

Race 4 tip: Verstappen to win at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 5 – Inglis 55 Second Challenge R90 (955m)

Beau Rada is twice a winner from eight starts at Moonee Valley and it saves it best for the tight-turning track. The John McArdle-trained gelding has won seven times at this distance and it should be finishing off quickly from a tricky draw.

Gallant Harmony scored a one-length win two starts back at Ballarat and it was pressured at Pakenham. The John Sadler-trained gelding goes well at Moonee Valley and at this distance, so include here at each way odds.

Bullpit is a multiple winner on this track and a five-time winner at this distance. The five-year-old gets a 2kg weight relief from apprentice Ben Allen and it could feature in the placings.

Race 5 tip: Beau Rada to win at Palmerbet.com.au

Race 6 – Good Blokes Society Distance Final (2500m)

Doom ‘n’ Boom is a last start winner at Sandown which steps up to this distance for the first time. The Corstens-trained gelding has been warming up to these distances all campaign and it should be tough to beat again over 2500m. The slight rise in weight shouldn’t be a deterrent.

Crediton is a last start winner on this track and it has winning experience at this distance. The stablemate to Doom ‘n’ Boom is bred to run over this distance and the wide draw of 12 won’t be an issue at this distance. Ben Thompson takes 2kg off its back so respect it here.

Hale Soriano is an imported runner which couldn’t handle the big weight last start. The Darren Weir-trained gelding looked good when finishing second at Flemington in January and another run similar to that takes it close at this level.

Race 6 tip: Crediton to win at CrownBet.com.au

Race 7 – Simpson Construction Typhoon Tracy Stakes (1200m)

Improvement has rattled off four consecutive wins in Sydney and it has defeated some nice types along the way. The Gary Portelli-trained filly defeated both Miss Wonderland and Echo Effect at its last two starts, with Echo Effect subsequently placing at group two level. It’s unbeaten at this distance and deserves plenty of respect.

Crystal Fountain has looked good remaining unbeaten from three starts and it has experience on this track. The Freedman-trained filly won by just under a length at Moonee Valley last start where it chimed in around the turn and it might have to travel wide throughout after drawing barrier 13.

Magnatti is also unbeaten from three starts and it gets a great barrier. The Wez Hunter-trained filly scored two easy wins to begin its career before winning narrowly here last start. There was plenty to like about that performance and Craig Williams remains in the saddle. Top chance.

Race 7 tip: Magnatti to win at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 8 – Independent Turf Services Handicap (1000m)

Certain Elle has looked terrific this campaign with consecutive wins. The Paul Rocke-trained mare is a five-time winner from 23 starts, which includes twice on this track. Beau Mertens takes 2kg off its back and it should be considered at each way odds.

Northkape set the pace last time out before hitting the wall late. The Robbie Griffiths-trained mare is a three-time winner at this distance and it has plenty of ability. It gets a vital 3kg claimer in the saddle which could make the difference.

Doc’s Hero finished fifth when resuming last start and that effort was solid. It should improve with racing under its belt and it gets a good barrier draw of two with Mitchell Aiken taking 3kg off its back.

Race 8 tip: Certain Elle to place at WilliamHill.com.au
