With plenty of spring contenders going around, Saturday’s meeting at The Valley should be a really good form sighter. The highlight of the card is the Feehan Stakes, the winner of which will go straight through to the 2020 Cox Plate. The track is rated a Good 4, while the action kicks off at 12:30pm AEST with a 1200m Benchmark 84.

Race 1 – How Womantic @ $2.70
No prizes for tipping the Maher & Eustace-trained four-year-old mare as our best bet of the day. Every man and his dog has heard this tip, and you can clearly see why. If she can bring the form that delivered four wins from five starts in her first preparation, How Womantic will prove too classy for this field first up. From barrier two, expect apprentice Lachie Neindorf to have her on the back of the leaders. With the rail back in the true position, you would expect the first three or four lanes to be the place to be early on in the card.
Race 8 – Harbour Views @ $4.20
As mentioned in our Feehan Stakes betting preview, this race looks perfectly set up for Harbour Views. With Johnny Allen on board in barrier two, there are plenty of positives circulating for the Matthew Williams galloper. His form on good surfaces is exceptional, while his experience around The Valley means there are no excuses. Surprise Baby brings class to the race, as does Sircconi, but it looks like the ticket to the Cox Plate is Harbour Views’ to lose.
Race 4 – Prince Ziggy @ $12/$3.60 EW
Happy to go with Prince Ziggy here, especially if the track plays fairly. He has Damien Oliver on board and in his last run at The Valley finished second behind Al Galayel, who has since gone out and won again. At a nice each-way price, this looks one of the best value tips of the day countrywide. He opened up at $20 when final fields were released, so the support is definitely there.
