Money for Omei Sword to defeat Impending

Punters have backed Chris Waller-trained filly Omei Sword to beat Eskimo Prince Stakes favourite Impending in the Group Three race for three-year-olds.

The winner of the Group Two Flight Stakes in August, Omei Sword went on to run second in the Golden Rose, splitting Godolphin colts Astern and Impending.

Omei Sword went up a $4.60 chance in the TAB’s early market for Saturday’s race at Randwick over 1200m but has been wound in to $3.80.

Impending has been the solid favourite at $3.50.

Godolphin and Waller appear to have a strong hold on the race with Bezel, trained by John O’Shea, and Comin’ Through from Sydney’s premier stable sharing the third line of betting at $6.

Kris Lees-trained stakes winner Guard Of Honour is an $8 chance despite a first-up third as favourite at Randwick over 1000m on January 21.

Bryneich, the third Godolphin colt entered in the race, is an $11 chance, the same price as the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Spending To Win.

The Anthony Cummings-trained Man From Uncle is a $15 hope to improve on his Listed placing during the Melbourne spring carnival, sharing the fifth line of betting with the Waller-trained Veladero.
