Mona Lisa Stakes 2020 betting tips, best odds & form guide

Miss Fabulass
Miss Fabulass looks well placed to contest the Listed Mona Lisa Stakes at Wyong this Friday.

Listed racing heads to Wyong on Friday for the Mona Lisa Stakes and Wyong Cup. The Mona Lisa will be run over 1350m for Fillies and Mares and is worth $140,000. Emeralds is the current favourite at $3, ahead of Wandabaa and Miss Fabulass. It should be a moderately run affair with Pierrless, Heart Of The Oak and Missybeel the likely lamplighters out in front.

Friday racing tips for Mona Lisa Stakes 2020

Best Bet
Miss Fabulass @ $5

The regally bred Miss Fabulass (Frankel x Samantha Miss) looks perfectly placed here after a brilliant autumn campaign. She ran second in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill before ending her preparation with cardiac arrhythmia in the Listed Octagonal Plate, which required her to trial before racing again. That she did with two trial victories, including a dominant 5L victory on the Beaumont track at Newcastle last week. She is a winner when first up before and will get the run of the race from barrier five under Nash Rawiller, who rode her during both trials leading up to this. She is certainly the class runner in the field, hence the top weight, and she can win this if she produces the Group 1 form we saw last preparation.

Next Best
Emeralds @ $3

Emeralds is the obvious danger from the John Sargent yard, coming off a dominant win at Canterbury a month ago. James McDonald rode her that day and sticks with her here, which is a good sign for favourite backers. As top elect she has only missed the places once from four starts, which includes both of her career victories. Our main concern with the talented mare is where she gets to in the run given she has drawn barrier 11 of 13. Her natural racing pattern sees her get back and finish strongly, which is why we are worried she will either have too much work to do or be caught three wide without cover. Her form around Tailleur and Flit looks good enough to win this, however.

Best Value
Heart Of The Oak @ $10

Gerald Ryan and Stanley Alexiou contest the race with their consistent mare Heart Of The Oak. She has drawn to get all of the favours in barrier two and either lead or sit on the leader’s back under Doncaster-winning rider James Innes Jr. Having missed the places at only two of her seven starts, with those being at Group 1 and Group 3 level, she looks to be back into a grade that will suit her down to the ground. She did get a galloping lesson by Wandabaa at her last outing when favourite, but we are willing to forgive her that given how heavy the track. She will prosper on the dry track at Wyong this Friday, and the $10 presents as good value.
