Mixed emotions for Desleigh Forster

Trainer Desleigh Forster has come away both satisfied and annoyed after Too Good To Refuse’s return to racing at Eagle Farm.

Too Good To Refuse ($1.80 fav) finished strongly for second but was never a chance to catch Upstart Pride ($5.50) in Saturday’s Open Hcp (1200m).

In the end Upstart Pride was too slick winning by 3-3/4 lengths.

Forster was happy with the run of Too Good To Refuse who is being aimed at the Group One Doncaster Mile on April 1 at Randwick.

But she was far from happy with rival jockeys’ tactics in allowing Jeff Lloyd on Upstart Pride to dictate in front.

“There were six runners and four of them are leaders but they just gave up the lead,” Forster said.

Too Good To Refuse’s jockey Jim Byrne said he could do nothing about other riders’ race tactics.

“I was slapping my horse along the whole way. He wanted to hang out in the straight. He has finished better than anything else in the race,:” Byrne said.

“I can’t ride other jockeys races.”
