Mixed day for Zoe White

Star Rockhampton apprentice Zoe White has been suspended ahead of her full-time move to Brisbane.

White, who has won 112 races mainly in central Queensland, will link full-time with trainer Tony Gollan at Eagle Farm on Monday.

She has been travelling from Rockhampton to ride work and in some midweek races lately ahead of the move to the city.

White rode her first winner for Gollan when The Tinman won at the Gold Coast on Saturday but it came with a 12-day suspension for causing interference on The Tinman at the 1000m mark.

Gollan is tipping White will make the grade in Brisbane with hard work.

“She has a way to go yet but I have a good chance for her to ride on Wednesday. She just needs rides and a few winners to build her profile,” Gollan said.

Comeback jockey Darryl McLellan rode his first winner since he resumed riding on Hanover Square at the Gold Coast meeting.

It was McLellan’s fifth ride since he returned to the saddle after a five-year break.

He has been working and riding for Toby Edmonds, the trainer of Hanover Square.

Another newcomer to Queensland, Victorian jockey Mark Pegus, also got off to a successful start in his new association with Toowoomba trainer Ben Currie.

Pegus rode a double on Kuttamurra Al and Mustarrid for Currie who was the state’s leading trainer last season.
