Miles Of Krishan out to confirm spring bid

Greg Eurell has spring carnival ambitions for lightly raced Miles Of Krishan who will be out to end her first campaign on a winning note at Sandown.

Miles Of Krishan won at Sandown on debut in midweek grade last month before Eurell stepped her up to Saturday class at her second start at Caulfield.

While she had to settle for a close second, Miles Of Krishan did enough to confirm Eurell’s opinion that she was a filly of promise with the potential to be competitive in mares’ stakes races next season.

“She just did a few little things wrong and luck in running didn’t help,” Eurell said.

“I’m sure she got a lot out of that run.”

Eurell plans to give Miles Of Krishan a let-up after Saturday’s race with a view to the spring.

“I believe she’s a black-type filly and I think in time she’ll get her opportunity to put the score on the board,” Eurell said.

“While she’s so fit and well I just thought we’d have one run over the mile, just to give us a little bit more of an idea and scope on where we’re going with her.

Eurell said the filly hadn’t missed a beat and believes the step to 1600m is within her scope the way she finished strongly over 1400m.

“Beyond that, I think there would be a question mark,” he said.

Craig Newitt retains to the ride on Saturday in a race which has attracted 28 nominations including the Ciaron Maher-trained Gingie.

Robert Smerdon has Fawkner’s half-sister Fife and stablemate Indarra nominated.
