Leg 1 – Rating 67 Handicap (2200m)

Punters of Prescience were getting sick of the five-year-old running second, but after finishing fifth last start, they are wondering if the import will ever win. It gets its chance in a soft rating 67 race here and the Chris Waller-trained gelding should be tough to beat with more fitness under its belt.

Pyramid Prince is a three-win gelding for Gregory Hickman which went close at Newcastle last start. The five-year-old has already won twice this preparation and is in a rare patch of form. It won by a length at Gosford two starts back and although it rises up in grade for this, it carries only 53.5kg.

Prescience should be tough to beat and will likely be heavily favoured. Anchor the Waller-trained runner or add Pyramid Prince for value.

Leg 1 tips: 5, 8

Leg 2 – Theraces R67 Handicap (1600m)

Zaunkonig wasn’t disgraced when third in a tough race at Rosehill last start and dropping back to midweek level will suit. The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained horse defeated the likes of Prescience and Dr Sykes to start this campaign and its last two starts have been full of merit. Tricky draw and carries a big weight, but it looks the class runner of the field.

Beretta was a stylish last start winner which scored by 2.5 lengths at Newcastle. The Kris Lees-trained gelding handles all track conditions and drops in grade slightly after dominating the field on a heavy surface. It has strong form in behind Miss Denni at Canterbury and that should stack up nicely for this with the 2kg claim of Koby Jennings.

Former Kiwi runner Antonio Giuseppe broke through for its first Australian win last start when winning by just over a length at Canterbury. The Chris Waller-trained gelding had form in behind Valley Girl in New Zealand which has been franked at a high level and Hugh Bowman takes over the riding duties from Tye Angland. Should be at each way odds.

Leg 2 tips: 1, 2, 3

Leg 3 – Pro-Ride R70 Handicap (1400m)

Nieta has looked classy when winning its last two starts. The John Thompson-trained mare won by 3.8 lengths at Wyong before backing that up with a 1.5-length victory at Canterbury. It rises up in weight for this which is a concern for a mare, but it goes best on rain-affected ground and the conditions should suit. Wouldn’t suggest at a very short price, but each way odds would be appealing.

Me No Marsh Potato didn’t fire when fresh up at Wyong, but it’s undefeated in two starts second up and it looms as a big chance. The Kris Lees-trained mare ended its previous campaign with a disappointing effort in the Provincial Championship Qualifier at Wyong, but it looks to have rebounded from that and this is a much easier target.

Stilettoed Vixen battled well behind Extensible at Rosehill last start and it drops right back in grade for this. The Gerald Ryan-trained mare has won twice from 11 starts with four placings and it’s showing good enough form to win at midweek level. It could go under the bookmakers radar and punters could secure a handy price.

Leg 3 tips: 1, 4, 8

Leg 4 – Tab Rewards R67 Handicap (1100m)

Sugar Bay Leonard was a short $2.30 favourite last start, but was well beaten in four position. The Joe Pride-trained gelding was a one-length winner two starts back at Gosford and looked to have plenty of ability. It’s a well-bred son of Encosta de Lago and is worth including in quaddie bets.

The Snowden-trained Madame Lily will carry plenty of support after winning easily last start as a $1.45 shot. The More Than Ready mare finished second behind Yattarna on debut and that form has been strong all year. It looks to have a bright future after a long wait to get to the races and bookmakers will likely open it short in the market.

So Miraggio is unbeaten in two starts on the Sunshine Coast and this is much harder, but its wins must be respected. The Steven O’Dea-trained gelding won on debut by 4.5 lengths before backing that up with a 1.5-length win last start. It has been well-backed on both occasions and it could run a nice race with Brenton Avdulla in the saddle.

Leg 4 tips: 4, 9, 10
