McAlpine family continues to breed winners

Eureka Stud’s McAlpine clan looks to have a couple of handy possible replacements for recently retired Group One winners Tinto and Temple Of Boom.

Studmaster Scott McAlpine raced star sprinter Temple of Boom and his wife Grania owned top mare Tinto who were both retired this year.

The McAlpines were thrilled to have Sarisara confirm a winter campaign when she came from the outside barrier to win at Toowoomba on Saturday.

However, it was the effort of their first starter, two-year-old Tiyatrolani the day before which had the family in high spirits.

The Tony Gollan-trained filly won an 1100m-maiden at Ipswich by 7-1/2 lengths running very fast time.

Scott McAlpine said he had put his broodmare Tiyatro to Epsom Handicap winner Captain Sonador because he liked the way their bloodlines nicked.

“Tiyatro was a handy mare by Encosta De Lago who ran third to our later Group One winner Spirit of Boom in a Magic Millions Prelude at her first start,” McAlpine said.

“She did win a couple of races but never lived up to that run because she got too worked up on race day.”

“The funny thing is Tiyatrolani is so laid back we didn’t know what to expect on Friday.”

McAlpine said Tiyatrolani would have her next start in the Listed Ken Russell Memorial Stakes at the Gold Coast on Saturday week.

“Sarisara will go around in the Silk Stocking so hopefully we will have a big day,” McAlpine said.
