Mark Currie bid to race horse in NSW fails

Queensland trainer Mark Currie has failed in his bid to start horses in NSW with stewards ruling against him after a show cause hearing.

Currie is operating in his home state on a stay of proceedings pending an appeal against a two-year disqualification for race day treatment at his son Ben’s stables at Toowoomba earlier this year.

Mark Currie, who has not had a horse race since 2013 and works mainly as a foreman for his son, entered Apoloboom in the Murwillumbah Newmarket on Friday.

Apoloboom had been transferred to Mark Currie with Ben Currie unable to race horses in NSW until charges against him are heard.
