Consistent mare Magna Rossa broke through for the win at Casterton for trainer Matthew Williams

CONSISTENT mare Magna Rossa has registered just its third win of its career in stylish fashion at Casterton, leaving it to the last moment to pip Belaruski.

The $4.60 shot at Crownbet.com.au emerged from the pack late to run down the Alan Peterson-trained eight-year-old, which returned $1.40 at Sportsbet.com.au.

Dash Of Maple plugged away well to generate $2.60 WilliamHill.com.au.

The win was the first success for the mare since winning on New Year’s Day at Flemington and just the third win of the four-year-old’s 22 race career.

Following a racing pattern that was implemented at the tail end of last year, Magna Rossa came into the Mark Davis Cleaning benchmark 64 after a three week let up.

The win was the horse’s first victory as part of the Matthew Williams stable since the mare switched from the Matthew Ellerton camp.
