Former Victorian galloper Starsonic is having his fourth run since heading to North Queensland in mid-July. He finished under 2 lengths behind Nailed It Nan at this course three weeks ago who subsequently won at Rockhampton on Tuesday, before leading throughout to get run down over 1050m last start. Up to 1300m should suit him down to the ground being by Zoustar and he gets the services of Justin Stanley. Drawn in barrier 3, he’s likely to settle just behind the leaders and kick away from them late.

Tim Cook takes his 5yo mare, Great Fox for what looks to be a very winnable 1050m BM55. Her last start fourth came behind Ta Chanson who has been racing very well, with Lingalonga Lass and Elegant Zous filling the placings. Those two went on to fill the quinella spots in a race on Tuesday at Rockhampton, further franking the form. Barrier 3 with Ash Butler on board will suit her very well, getting back and running on strongly over the top of the strong tempo. She should be too good here.
