Trainer Donna Logan boarded her plane to Singapore on Friday morning with a spring in her step after a successful hit and run mission to the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale of two-year-olds at Karaka this week.

Logan, who has really started to hit her straps in Singapore with seven wins in the last five weeks, will have some fresh talent to take back to her Kranji base after securing three well-priced colts during the two-day sale.

Logan outlaid $28,000 for Lot 411, a Haradasun colt from the Kiltannon Stables draft on Thursday after earlier spending $34,000 for Lot 150, a Nadeem colt from Woburn Farm and $40,000 for Lot 107, an El Roca colt from Kilgravin Lodge on the first day of the sale.

To complement those purchases Logan also had new stable client, Krit Chittaseni, secure a Super Easy colt, Lot 434 from the Prima Park draft, for $170,000 that will also find his way to Singapore in the future.

“It was a really good sale and I’m thrilled with the horses we managed to buy,” Logan said. “It was tough buying but I think we did pretty well.

“I was also delighted for Mr Chittaseni as he fell in love with the Super Easy colt and was determined to get him.

“He is a new client for my stable and I’m very thankful he is putting this sort of support in behind us.”

Logan has turned heads in Singapore in recent weeks with her winning run and she believes it is just the tip of the iceberg for the operation.

“We’ve taken time to get to where we want to be which was always to be expected given what it takes to set up in a new location,” she said.

“I said all along that Rome wouldn’t be built in a day and that is how it has panned out.

“The horses settled in quite quickly but it has taken time for us to put all the pieces in the puzzle together the right way.

“I’ve had to change quite a few things that we normally did in New Zealand and we’ve just taken small steps to get the journey started.

“I did say about six weeks ago I thought we were ready to go boom and we definitely have.”

With a steady stream of winners of late, Logan is also seeing the benefits a successful run can bring in respect of new ownership opportunities.

“I’ve had fantastic support from day one from some very loyal clients,” she said.

“Just lately though the doors have started to open and the enquiries are now coming from people who may not have thought of us in the past.

“We’re on a roll and I definitely have my sights set high for the next 12 months as I believe we have the quality of horse we need to take on the best races up here.”
