Apprentice Lani Fancourt is facing an extended time on the sidelines after breaking an arm in a race fall at Murwillumbah.

Fancourt was riding Je Suis Prest on Friday when she came off in the straight and crashed to the turf.

She was taken to hospital for observation and discharged on Saturday morning.

Fancourt’s master Tony Gollan said X-Rays showed she had a broken right arm.

“Lani will see a specialist in Brisbane on Monday. It will probably require surgery,” Gollan said.

Fancourt was second in the Brisbane apprentice’s premiership last season and was due to come out of her time in October.

“She was thinking about applying for an extension of time anyway but I am sure she will now ask to extend her apprenticeship,” Gollan said.
