Lane scheduled to make Pakenham return

Melbourne jockey Damian Lane is preparing to return to the Australian scene after riding in Japan.

Star jockey Damian Lane is scheduled to make his return to Victorian racing with one ride on the Pakenham synthetic track ahead of the first city meeting of the new season.

Melbourne-based Lane has not ridden in an Australian race since April 20 at Randwick having then spent two months in Japan where he had considerable success.

The 25-year-old rode 38 winners during his stint in Japan and enjoyed Group One success.

After a short break Lane is booked to return to race riding with one ride aboard the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained gelding Sizzlesun in a 1400m benchmark-64 race at Pakenham on Thursday, the opening day of the 2019/20 racing season.

The Valley hosts Melbourne’s first city meeting of the season on Saturday and Lane is booked for four rides including the promising gelding Age Of Chivalry who is the early favourite for the Four’N Twenty Handicap (1200m).
